The changes are good. According to a news story on ABC7, the visitors center at Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument will be opening back up soon.

How soon? According to their story, Monday. This is great news, and another sign that things might be opening back up to "normal" levels. Eventually.

This summer has been tough as we wait for things to reopen fully. Finding activities for the kids to enjoy isn't the easiest task right now, and requires a little extra creativity if you don't want to do the same thing every day.

That also goes for trying to find stuff to do if you don't have kids.

July 4 is right around the corner, and Independence Day weekend is always a big one for travel. That includes trips to the lake and outdoor activities. It's good to see something like this reopening in our area.

Of course, Covid-19 is still a big concern. You will be encouraged to practice proper social distancing while you are at any state park this summer. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy yourself though.

In fact, outdoor activities, like hiking, have been promoted as safe ways to get out of the house as long as you practice social distancing.

The news report from ABC7 did mention that there will be no fireworks allowed at the park and there will be no fireworks display due to the pandemic.

You can see the full report from ABC7 by checking out this link. On the website for the Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument, there isn't any mention (as of yet) of the reopening of the visitors center.
