An Amarillo man is being utilized by the governor.

The Texas Crime Stoppers Council advises Governor Abbott about the many crime stoppers programs running around the state and certifies those programs to make them eligible to payments of rewards or probation fees established by the Code of Criminal Procedure.

And now a local man is headed to a seat on the council.

Perry Gilmore, Ph.D., has been appointed to the council.  He is the CEO and board president of Amarillo Recovery from Alcohol and Drugs.  He’s also a reserve deputy sheriff with Randal County and has nearly 40 years of law enforcement experience.  He is the secretary for Amarillo South Rotary and a member of the Texas Association for Investigative Hypnosis Board of Directors and Panhandle Behavioral Alliance.

Gilmore will severe with the council until September, 2020.
