Amarillo Transit To Debut New App Along With WTAMU

The City of Amarillo and West Texas A&M along with the Texas Department of Transportation have teamed up to develop an app to aid in Amarillo Transit riders. The One Ride app is set to debut Oct 1.

Riders can plan travel trips on public transportation in the Amarillo area, including Panhandle Community Services and Cord Care. One Ride will allow transit riders to locate approximate locations of all Amarillo City Transit and Panhandle community buses quickly from a digital source.

The Press release stated:

“There was a common goal between all of the entities that provided expertise and resources to make the One Ride mobile app a reality – to make public transportation more accessible for Amarillo and the Panhandle area,” said ACT Director Marita Wellage-Reiley. “It was true community effort.”

The One Ride app was imagined and designed by West Texas A&M University students.

“The WT students who created this app did a fantastic job, and we greatly appreciate their efforts and the leadership of James Webb and Dustin Hume of WT’s Information Technology-Web Services Department,” Wellage-Reiley said.
