Amarillo Woman Arrested For Leaving Kids In the Car While She Went To the Bar
Amarillo Police Department responded to a call at the La Cueva Bar off of East Amarillo Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found 2 small children in a white Ford Fusion.
According to APD, 34-year-old Consuelo Y Dalia Barron, the mother of the two children, was intoxicated inside La Cueva. Barron was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center and charged with Abandoning/Endangering a child with Intent to Return, which happens to be a felony in the state of Texas. The children were not harmed and police returned the two kids to a family member.
Barron may have been inside the bar for a few hours while her children waited outside.
Abandoning/Endangering a child with Intent to Return is a state jail felony in Texas, meaning Barron may spend between 180 days and 2 years in a Texas state jail. There are 15 state jails in Texas and the two nearest are Marshall Formby and J.B. Wheeler Units in Plainview.
