We try to look for any way to save money when it comes to home ownership. Oh and if you have ever bought a home you know how expensive it can be. You start with all the inspections that it will need and don't forget the closing costs.

That is all before you even move in. Then you have moving day and if you can afford movers I highly suggest it. They really can help save your sanity and a lot of work. Once you get moved in of course there is the upkeep, Oh and the taxes that will come every year. Hopefully those get added into your payment so it's not a big chunk at one time.

That is where this newest scam comes us. People in Potter and Randall have started receiving offers to help them claim your homestead exemption. If you own a home and you actually live in it and it's not a rental property, for the most part you will qualify.

This exemption saves you some money on your taxes. That is good news. The problem is that this company wants to charge you. They are requesting a check for $49. Don't do it. This service should never charge you. It is free to apply for and when you are at closing make sure that you discuss this. You want this exemption. If you pay anything for this guess what? You have been scammed. Don't let this happen to you.
