Earlier today Canyon Main Street announced their decision to cancel this year's Halloween Spooktacular On The Square. The decision to cancel was made due to concerns regarding the rising number of Covid-19 cases in our area.

The event was supposed to be a fun evening of trick-or-treating at local businesses and trunk-or-treats for the kids in Canyon. It was scheduled to take place on Oct 30.

Unfortunately, I suspect we'll be seeing more announcements like this as we get closer to Oct 31 unless we see our numbers in the area turn around.

If you are hoping to be able to get the kids out for Halloween, there are still several events in the area for you to participate in (as of now). The pumpkin farm is still open as well as other farms and pumpkin patches. Events are still planned on 6th Street on Route 66, including the Renaissance Faire. The zombie run is still scheduled to take place as of now.

One thing I've noticed on social media is several parents commenting on how they still plan to either go trick-or-treating in their neighborhood, or plan to hand out candy. I would check with other families in your neighborhood to see if trick-or-treating is going to be happening.

Fingers crossed we don't see more cancellations and that this year we can enjoy Halloween, as much as we possibly can in the age of masks and social distancing.
