Amarillo is slowly coming back to life after weeks of limited or no entertainment, dining and shopping due to Governor Abbott's shut down of non-essential businesses. Today Amarillo saw a flicker of light that will bring entertaining and more dining options back to Amarillo, as Cinergy Entertainment announced all four of their Texas theaters will reopen Friday May 8 in three phases.

All Cinergy locations including Amarillo will operate at twenty five percent capacities. Strict measures are being put in place to protect patrons and employees.  The reopening will follow a week of training and designing new procedures. Among the new safety measures enacted, each Cinergy location will require employees to self-report any coronavirus symptoms experienced within a 14-day period, with paid sick leave being offered. Cinergy will also take the temperatures of all employees before the start of each shift and require them to wear protective equipment. All employees are required to wash hands every thirty minutes. Amarillo Cinergy  will install plexiglass barriers between employees and customers, adhere floor signs to maintain six feet of physical distancing and extend the length between show times to allow for thorough cleaning and sanitizing of auditoriums.

Amarillo Cinergy will also encourage guests to buy their tickets online by waiving online ticketing fees. Cinergy will not be accepting cash payments during Phase 1 of reopening.
