Reports came out last night that Texas panhandle native Ron Ely lost both his wife and son in a horrific incident that culminated in a confrontation between his son and police.

According to reports, a 9-1-1 call was placed regarding a "family dispute." When officers arrived, they found Ron's wife, Valerie Lundeen, had been stabbed to death.

Ron identified a family member as the one responsible, according to the report. Officers searched for Cameron Ely, Ron and Valerie's son, and found him outside.

The news report states that Cameron "posed a threat," and that is when he was fatally wounded by deputies.

Ron Ely was born in Hereford, and was raised in Amarillo before he would go on to become a television and film star. He is famous for his role as Tarzan in the '60s TV series, and for playing Doc Savage.

Valerie Lundeen Ely was Miss Florida USA in 1981, and competed in the Miss America pageant. She and Ron had three children together.
