Most fatherly anecdotes are born from myths and legends. There's always a giant fish that got away, an act of super human strength, or some other almost believable element to the fable that leads to the moral at the end.

For me growing up, it was the story of a bar fight.

My father once told me that he and a friend ditched class to go have a beer at a run down biker bar in Amarillo. They were young and dumb, and the bartender wasn't one to ask questions.

Sitting at the bar just happened to be a professional wrestler that my dad was a fan of. He never did tell me who it was, but I have my theories.

As my dad, his buddy, and the wrestler sat talking and enjoying their beers, some drunk biker type comes up to them. He starts harassing the young patrons, until the wrestler intervenes.

The wrestler says something to the effect of, "they're with me," and the biker turns his attention away from the younger two. He starts letting his jaw flap at the wrestler, hurling every cliche insult in the book.

The wrestler, and this is the important part, turns to my dad and allegedly says, "There's always one sonovabitch."

The wrestler then proceeded to whoop the biker guy from one end of the bar to the other. It wound up being a massive bar fight. Dad and his buddy were lucky to make it out of there, or so the story goes.

My dad has a million little quips and sayings, but this one will always be my favorite.

There's always that one. Doesn't matter what you do or where you are. Just know, that there's always that one person who is going to try and make your life a little less pleasant.

Not everyone is going to like what you do. Not everyone is going to post on Facebook how much they loved something you decided to share. Not everyone will cheer and applaud your efforts. In fact, quite the opposite is true. It's okay though, because there's always that one.

The trick is to make sure you don't let that one get you down.
