I was a little shocked when I got an email saying that I was going to be receiving a free Google Home Mini. I immediately thought, "scam."

I was wrong. Turns out that Spotify and Google have teamed up to give subscribers a free Google Home Mini. Why? I have no clue.

I already have one, and I have a lot of fun with it. I use it mainly for news, music, and for when my daughter wants a cheap laugh. She likes to tell Google to play animal sounds or speak in other languages. Whatever makes her happy.

I've played some of the games that are available on it. There's a whole list of "secret" commands that activate everything from trivia to a quasi Dungeons & Dragons campaign.

I was pretty pumped about getting a free one. Now I'll have one to use at home and at the office.

The process was pretty simple. I followed the link in my email. I was then prompted to subscribe or login if I was already a subscriber.

It told me that a Google Home Mini was reserved for me, and then about 2 minutes later I was told I could go ahead and order one. Pretty simple.

I logged in, connected my Google and Spotify accounts, and then proceeded to the Google store page where I picked which Mini I wanted (they're out of red and blue, by the way), and placed the order.

The final cost was $0.00 with regular shipping. I'm stunned. Not a scam, and I have a free Google Home Mini on the way.
