Large Water Main Break Causes Traffic Headaches On Bell Street

The City of Amarillo is reporting a large water main as ruptured near the intersection of Bell Street and Plains Boulevard. Due to the break, customers in the area will be without water service for an estimated 10-12 hours while repairs are made to the 12-inch diameter pipe. Right now, service is only affecting residents in the 1500-1900 blocks of Bell Street.

The break is also causing traffic delays around this busy Amarillo intersection. On Bell Street near Plains Boulevard, traffic both northbound and southbound is being reduced to one lane in each direction. The city is asking folks to use caution traveling through that area and if you can detour, that would be best.

The City of Amarillo would like to thank residents and area motorists in advance for their patience during the repair of the water main. The city will work hard to minimize any adverse effects of this closure to area motorists and residents.
