If Topo Chico is your drink of choice, this might be some news you want to hear. Coca-Cola, who owns the Texas brand, has announced they are teaming up with the beer experts at Molson Coors for a hard seltzer. Topo Chico Hard Seltzer will start hitting the shelves in stores beginning in the first half of 2021. And it doesn't stop there, the plans are to offer the new hard seltzer in four flavors - Tropical Mango, Tangy Lemon Lime, Strawberry Guava, and Exotic Pineapple. The flavors will initially be offered in a 12-pack variety case.

Currently, Molson Coors has two of their own hard seltzer brands - Coors Seltzer and Vizzy Hard Seltzer. In their partnership with Coca-Cola, Molson Coors will be in charge of marketing, sales, and distribution of the Topo Chico Hard Seltzer brand. Hard seltzer, spiked seltzer or hard sparkling water is a type of highball drink containing carbonated water, alcohol, and often fruit flavoring. In the US the alcohol is usually made by fermenting cane sugar; sometimes malted barley is used. The alcohol by volume is around 5% and the calorie-content is relatively low. As of 2019, in the U.S. the most popular brand is White Claw.

Topo Chico joined the Coca-Cola list of brands in 2017. Topo Chico has been sourced from and bottled in Monterrey, Mexico since 1895. The drink takes its name from the mountain Cerro del Topo Chico, near Monterrey.
