September is "Hunger Action Month." According to the Feeding America website, that means this month is "a month where people all over America stand together with Feeding America and the nationwide network of food banks to fight hunger."

In Amarillo, Subway restaurants have teamed up with High Plains Food Bank to combat hunger in our area through the 'Feeding the Need' initiative.

According to a press release:

For every 2 meals purchased through September 30th, 42 participating Subway restaurants will donate the monetary equivalent of 1 meal up to 40,000 meals to High Plains Food Bank.

According to Zack Wilson, executive director at High Plains Food Bank, one in seven people, including one in five children, face hunger in the Texas Panhandle.

The funds from the campaign will help them better serve those who may not know where their next meal is coming from. For more information about 'Feeding the Need' click on this link.
