WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THURSDAY TO 1 AM
CDT FRIDAY. Snow is expected across a good portion of the central Texas panhandle. Total snow accumulations are forecast to be 1 to 3 inches. Winds will be gusting as high as 40mph and could cause blowing snow. Plan on slippery road conditions and reduced visibility due to the blowing snow.

A low pressure system will move our way on Wednesday night into Thursday morning, and with it, bring some very cold air and strong winds. The same system will also move some moisture into the region, and depending on the track, that could mean snow or mixed precip.

As shown in the scenarios above, we have several situations that could bring a heavier band of snow and mixed precipitation to the central part of the Texas panhandle. We know that the northwest corner has the best chance at the moment. If Amarillo does see the heavier band of snow, 1-3" is not out of the question. We will continue to update this forecast and page as the storm gets closer.
